Handwritten, diary-type letter by Paul Cavafy from France to C. P. Cavafy, on two sheets with notes on all sides. In the first part (5 January) Paul's intention to depart from France on the following day is expressed, provided he receives financial assistance from C. P. Cavafy, in order to pay off his debts there. In the second part (6 January, morning and noon) the content changes and there are comments on his dire financial situation; he promises C. P. Cavafy to authorise him as proxy to his pension and to seek employment with a journal or newspaper in order to secure an income. In the letter, Paul very often also addresses John, while he mentions the assistance of Ralli and a benefit he hopes to receive – on this particular matter, he urges C. P.
